New Love, New Life!

Today I realized that I haven't written in this blog for over two years!  Life has changed so much for me!  I have been staying close to home through 2012 and started off 2013 with a close call.  I was hospitalized due to a rogue blood clot that apparently shot out of the hole in the top of my heart and hit and damaged a kidney.  Who knew?  Very scary and extremely painful for me.  Lucky for me, I had one of the best men in the world by my side, my amazing John.  We had met the previous summer and for me, it was love at first sight!  He has three great kids who I love dearly and the family is coping with the struggles of muscular dystrophy as it has shown itself in his young son.

So I have been really busy learning how to be a wife and step-mom, which I wasn't sure I'd ever get the chance to be.  John proposed on New Year's Eve in Upper Ojai just before midnight and we will be married in October!

I have also been busy working as a medical cannabis advocate in our local action group of Americans for Safe Access. Americans for Safe Access (ASA) and Americans for Safe Access Foundation (ASAF) share the mission of ensuring safe and legal access to cannabis (marijuana) for therapeutic uses and research. ASA works with our grassroots base of over 50,000 members to effect change using public education and direct advocacy at the local, state, and federal level.

My multiple sclerosis has been under control and at this time, I am using only medical cannabis to help avoid the crippling attacks on my nervous system.  I try to share my experience and feel that I am clearly benefiting from the neuro-protectant characteristics of medical cannabis.  I currently post regularly on the Ventura ASA page on Facebook and help to manage meetings, presentations, and even challenge the city council on current medical marijuana policy and a lack of safe access to medicine for qualified, legitimate patients.

So life is good.  For now, music is on the back burner as my short break became a true hiatus.  After working in music and touring in my old schoolbus for so many years, I am okay with it.  I am gathering content for the next album and will be sure and stand up loud and proud as that project starts to bloom in the future.  I am following my heart and nurturing my relationship with my true partner.

Music, you will always be my love....
